Among the sand, shingle and rocky beaches,
we note San Bennato, Lo Chalet, Cala delle Alghe and Frugoso,
along with many others reachable only by sea.
Frugoso Beach
It's accessed directly from the flats. The beach, of shingle
and sand, and the crystalline sea, are completely encircled
by luxuriant Mediterranean scrub, which here and there extends
to the water's edge.
A few metres from the beach is the little Isolotto dei Topi
(Mouse Islet).
Cala delle alghe
(Seaweed Cove)
This is the most picturesque beach of the town. The vegetation
that surrounds it seems to embrace the water, giving a sense
of life to the crystalline mirror of the sea.
It's ideal for lovers of tranquillity, reached by turning
into the road to the right of the "Frugoso" pinewoods,
and after a few steps, a little lane to the right gives access
to the beach.
Mokambo-Scogliera-Chalet
These three beaches run along the seafront of the town, and
have taken on a new look following some restoration work.
The project, in fact, united "Mokambo", "Scogliera"
and "Chalet" into one long beach, much wider than
the original and which is now a continuous stretch along the
sea front.
San Bennato
This is the first beach one encounters when entering the town.
It's characterised by a sand which includes an iron mineral
that imparts a particular glittering quality. The beach is
home to a sailing school and offers deckchair and beach umbrella
hire.
